Week 8 - Cool Lights, Eh? - Hayley Fitzpatrick

I took this photo in the summer of 2019 when me and two of my friends took a road trip up to Vancouver, Canada for a few days. I was extremely excited at the time because, until then, I had never traveled outside of the US, and because I was able to spend a lot of quality time with my friends who were usually all away at different colleges. We really had a blast driving up the coast, and exploring a new city. Oh how I took the time before Covid for granted. I know that this picture isn't the greatest quality ever, but I still think that the lighting is interesting in it for a variety of reasons. First just looking at the street lights, I really like that in the distance the design of the street lights is really undetectable. We can only see blobs of light and the reflections of light from a variety of sources on the street. It is not until we look at that larger street light in the front of the picture that we can start to make out the individual shapes of the lights, although blurry. I think that it adds an interesting depth to this photo, especially considering that the background is pretty dark. Truly, my favorite part of this picture is the sparkly lights that are in the trees. Against the dark evening sky they look almost like stars. I really love that with all of the different light sources that we can see in this picture, it remains fairly dark still.
