Week 8 - By the Blue Purple Yellow Red Water - Alex Bobroff
I love San Diego. I've been lucky enough to grow up here and it truly is one of my favorite places. While I don't make it downtown too often, seeing the skyline always makes me happy. The way it sits right along the bay is so gorgeous, especially at night when this photo was taken. This skyline means a lot to me. It gives me a sense of home. But I also never tire of seeing it.
This photo was taken from a ferry boat headed towards Coronado on the other side of the bay. It was also just after sunset. I like this picture because it really captures the colors of the sea and the sky very well. You can see the last hint of orange in the sky from sunset as night begins to come in. And then the reflections from the buildings onto the water add so much to this photo. It takes the natural blue of the sea and amplifies it with so much color and light. The water also has a beautiful pattern from the currents and wake of the boat that disrupt the reflection just enough to add more texture. It's a very relaxing image to look at and captures a beautiful moment.

Nice example of how foreground in contrast to background is immediately pleasurable to our eyes. The cool foreground and further background of the sky, along with the beautiful warmth of the city says so much about why we mix warm and cools on stage to create beauty
