Week 6 - Sunset on Sunset (well, near it) - Grace McCarney
This week my partner and I decided to go for a walk around Lake Hollywood. I'd done it once before but not at this time of day. The walk was definitely longer than I remembered, but it felt good to get out. When we started the walk, it was around 3:30 so the sun was still high in the sky, but it was juuuust starting to dip. By the time we were near the end of the walk, it was almost 5 (we were walking pretty slow). At this point we were on the east side of the lake, so we had a fabulous view of the sun setting behind the Hollywood Hills. Even though I knew this was a reservoir and that I was in the middle of a big city, seeing this lake at sunset made me feel like I was somewhere else. The feeling of seeing the sunset on big trees and a body of water brings me to a place on the east coast. Somewhere far away from civilization. What a camping trip must feel like. It was so beautiful to see the sun reflected on the water and how it lit the trees as if to say, "I'm here to help you shine." It felt like the sun is at the ending of its 11 o'clock number. It has exhausted all of its emotions and just wants to be seen for its beauty. Also, after last week, it felt like the worst part is over, and we are starting anew. The hard work about to begin.
On a side note, I love how that angle creates shadows that make me look like some domineering silly creature.
Thank you for the 3 photos - great progressions. Wonderful connection between the setting sun and your emotional state. Nice post!
