Week 4:Lavender-Brianna Russavage

My grandma has this lavender bush in her backyard. The smell is soothing and sentimental. This photo also makes me feel nostalgic because I grew up with my grandma gardening in the backyard. Additionally, lavender happens to be my favorite color. I was sitting in the backyard with her and the sunlight gleaming over the hill made me feel at peace. It was a combination of the color, light and smell. In terms of design, I was intrigued by the lines that the sun rays create and how we can manipulate them on the stage. There are many ways we can show sunlight on the stage. Now after taking this photo I can see how sunlight shining above a hill can be represented in so many ways. For me, this form of sunlight shining over the lavender bush represents tranquility, hope and stillness.
