Week 4 - Shadows and Projection - Jarrod Jackson
When I looked outside my window a few days ago, I noticed how intricate the shadows casted by the tree were. When the wind ran through the leaves, the shadows even danced around taking on dynamic nature. Projecting designs like this is certainly possible through the use of gobos, but there was something more "alive" about this particular design outside my window. I began thinking about how I would position lights to cast shadows from set pieces or props, and how these shadows would effect the atmosphere or mood of the stage. It seems the art of lighting isn't just merely painting with light, but also manipulating shadow, the absence of light.

Great post and very true! Gobos are easy, imitating the simple act of trees blowing in the breeze is hard but can be done - nice post!
