For the first time in my life I have my Christmas tree up before December 1st! I want to say it is because I love Christmas, but it's because I got this tree onsale and couldn't say no. It came pre lit and I have to say, for being a fake tree it is very well lit and of good quality. The lights featured on the tree are LED and show up vibrantly throughout the tree. I find it interesting that multi colored light colors never clash, a lot of the colors are warm jewel tones that harmoniously live all together. There is also something very jubilant about a Christmas tree, it seems like every space a tree is in, it is the focal point of the room, or party.

    I also love the mix that multi-colored lights create. Such a sense of comfort and beauty - I often wonder how much is our affinity for the lights and how much of it is just good memories of Christmas???

  I took this picture about 4 years ago during spring break of my senior year in high school. This is the beach in La Jolla. I'm from San Diego so I love going to the beach and have so many fond memories of La Jolla. This picture was taken about mid afternoon and it wasn't as bright and sunny as when I had first got there hours prior and thought it looked beautiful. Since the pandemic has started, I haven't visited the beach at all due to the crowds. As much as I love this picture, I can't help but feel sad to think about the fact that I took simple outings with friends for granted. Week 4 - L'arc en ciel - Grace McCarney

  While I'm visiting California for these few months I'm staying at my partner's parents' house. They have a chandelier in the front of the house that is next to a window. The window is facing west so during late afternoon/early evening everyday the light comes through and creates a stunning array of rainbows all throughout the second floor. This week they were especially bright and distinct. I also just learned how to say rainbow in french so that's what my title is. Whenever I see a rainbow like this, that appears somewhere I didn't expect it, it always brings a huge smile to my face. I know there's a science to it but it really feels magical. I think that is something that lighting does in theatre that not many other design forms can do. Depending on how it's lit and what is lit, it can truly make the stage feel magical. Week 10 - Plant Mom - Erica Batres

  This is a picture of my plants at around 4:30pm in the afternoon. The sun was not yet set, but it was definitely "golden hour" peaking through my bedroom window. I love the way the warm yellows from the sun brings out the warm earthy tones of the greens in the potted plants. Looking at all these colors together puts me in such a relaxing mood, and makes me so thankful that I have brought plants into my bedroom. There is a soft cascading yellow that makes this photo feel so warm and fresh to me. When I look at this picture I can feel the temperature of the room, slightly warm, but not stuffy.
