Light and Dark - Week 8
I took this picture during Thanksgiving weekend. I was on a hike at the Layfette Reservoir in Northern California, visiting my sister and brother-in-law for the weekend. I edited the photo to enhance its already mysterious and eerie nature and create a cohesive mood for the photo. I particularly like the gradient mountains in the back that increasingly get lighter and then fade into the sky giving depth to not only the photo but mood. The beacon, which is the focal point of the photo, stands tall in stature and gives off a strong and unwavering essence. Lastly, the texture and shadows on the water, engulfing the lighthouse, also signifies a calm and uninterrupted nature. The black and white edit creates a mysterious and eerie tone for the picture but is juxtaposed with the strong and unwavering beacon purporting an overall sense of hope in times of darkness.
