Week 2 - New Beginnings - Brianna Ureta

I took this picture about a year and a half ago at the Muir Woods National Monument in San Francisco. It was my brother and I's 18th birthday and we took a trip to San Francisco to celebrate, as it is one of our favorite places in California to visit. I remember waking up really early in the morning that day, drowsy and cold. It was the middle of February and the winter breeze refused to let up. We put on multiple layers of clothes and drove out to the monument, stopping at McDonald's for breakfast on the way there. When we got into the park and began one of it many winding trails, I snapped this picture on my phone. I remember finding so much comfort in the sunlight that escaped through the looming red woods. I was now an adult and would be attending college in the fall. I was scared, but excited for the next chapter of my life to begin. It was a new beginning, where I could start over and change myself for the better. Like that sudden warmth of sunlight, a new world of hope was awaiting me.

  1. Really great connection of an image to a moment in your life. The sun in this photo does really seem to suggest a new beginning (as sunrises tend to do) and also hope. Nice post!
